These quilt blocks, which I view as "sketches" for my other work, are assembled from raw canvas that has been painted with acrylic washes. Three canvas pieces were painted using a glue-batik method to create a quilt pattern, that was then chopped up into squares, and re-assembled. While making, my thoughts were directed towards healing as re-making from the pieces, and how that restoration is often a messy and ongoing affair that is both very difficult, and somehow very beautiful.
